Personalisation in Health and Social Care Essay Autism affects around 1 in 100 people, it affects how they communicate and how they see the world around them. The condition affects people in different ways some may live a fairly independent life, others may have accompany learning disabilities and need more specialist care. Autism is a lifelong developmental disability and affects how they see the world around them. People with Autism have said that the world around them can feel like a mass of people, places and events, which they struggle to make sense of. They also find it hard relating to people, understanding them and taking part in everyday family life and social events. People with Autism have difficulties with the following; social communication, social interaction and social imagination, these are known as the ââ¬Ëtriad of impairmentsââ¬â¢. The difficulties these cause in peopleââ¬â¢s lives include finding it difficult to form friendships, understanding and interoperating peopleââ¬â¢s feelings and actions, understanding danger, coping with changes and new or unfamiliar situations. The main problems with communication that people with autism have, are taking what people say literally, understanding jokes and sarcasm and peopleââ¬â¢s body language and facial expressions, it is important to speak in a clear and consistent way to enable people with Autism time to process what has been said. The characteristics of people with Autism may vary, but the main ones consist of love of routine, if their routines are changed or disrupted it can cause upset and agitation although if they are given enough time and explanation it may be more comfortable for them. Sensory sensitivity, this can occur in one or more of the senses, it can be hypersensitivity or hypo-sensitivity. Special interests, this can be intense interests from an early age and can be anything from art, music, maths or computers. Learning disability, this can affect all areas of a personââ¬â¢s life which involves learning for example; how people learn at school to learning daily living skills. An early diagnosis by a health professional will make a difference because with the right help and support a person with Autism will make good progress. ASPERGER SYNDROME Asperger syndrome is a form of Autism and has all of the characteristics and difficulties as Autism although is not accompanied with a learning disability, but may have specific learning difficulties. These may include dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD or epilepsy. People with Asperger syndrome have a big love of routine, they may have rules and ritiuals which they must live by to make sense of their world. Children may line things up, collect and organise things and can be very repetitive. Their special interests can be very intense and sometimes obsessive, they have a big focus on learning and with the correct help and support can do well with studying in their chosen interest. Unlike Autism, Asperger syndrome is harder to diagnose due to the wide variety of symptoms and may not be recognised until adulthood. Some people find the diagnoses unhelpful as it is an unwanted label although for others it is helpful to be able to seek help and support to manage needs and behaviours. Asberger synd rome is quite often known as the ââ¬Ëhidden disability and there is no cure.

My Own Health History à à à à à Today I would say that I am physically healthy, but I could be more emotionally healthy. The reason I feel this way is because I am currently training for the Berea College track and field team. To do this I have to run times that are not easily attained. This is what causes me to be physically healthy. This is just one of many factors that I believe have influenced my physical health. Others include swimming, basketball, walking, cross-country, my own personal view of my self, and the way others view me. All of these factors have played a positive influence on my training habits and abilities. à à à à à Basketball has been a very large part of my life. It was the first sport I ever learned to play. When I was younger I would watch my older brothers and my uncles go the park and play. It was something I enjoyed doing. That has a lot to do with your health. If you can find something you love to do and can give you a workout then you can be considered healthy. Playing basketball made me better physically and mentally. As I grew older I started to play more, which put me in better shape. Finally by my freshman year I was playing for my high school. I learned the great skills as well as teamwork. This is an example of how sports develop a person mentally and physically. While playing basketball probably was the most enjoyable it did not put me in the best shape. à à à à à I have tried just about every sport in my life, but the two that I have been most successful at are swimming, and running. Running is the one I have decided to do in college, but I also love swimming. I started swimming when I was about two years old, but I did not start competitively swimming until the summer before my junior year. I trained daily when I joined my summer swim team after my best friend told me it would be good for the upcoming cross country season. After swimming I realized that it is a great way to learn controlled breathing, and to increase your VO2 max. It is also a great workout for your legs and arms. And the competition from swimming teaches sportsmanship, and punctuality. Swimming to me was a major part of my health and physical fitness my junior and senior year, but the biggest part was running cross-country and track and field.

Dollââ¬â¢s House Essay
Victorian England was marked by rapid industrial growth, resulted in changes in the society, organization and attitude of the people. It is the custom of a society to bring into play, its own rules and values, to satisfy their interests. The literary works of the Victorian Era were pictures of the contemporary society drawn by eminent writers of the time. Henrik Ibsen was one among them. The adverse aspects of the society were unraveled harshly by the author, in the play ââ¬ËDollââ¬â¢s Houseââ¬â¢. Women were expected to surrender their life for the comfort of the family. This is well explicated in the play through the life of Nora, the principal female character. A thrash about maintaining their own self can be identified in the characters both male and female. The society of the era seemed to have coherent notions and concepts about masculinity and femininity. Deviation from such preconceived notions was not well accepted. Nora, the ââ¬Ëdoll wifeââ¬â¢ of Torvald was confined in the comforts of her own home. She was denied the status of a wife. This was the fate of most of the woman characters of the period that appeared in the current literatures of the time. They had to struggle for the approval of the society they live in. What Ibsen wanted was to liberate woman from the conventional roles of bearerââ¬â¢s of children and their moral guides. The materialistic mentality of male characters of the time was revealed through Torvald,à à an unsuccessful barrister who refused to take ââ¬Ëunsavory casesââ¬â¢. This materialism was exhibited by his attitude towards his wife, that he considered her as an ââ¬Ëassetââ¬â¢, not as his ââ¬Ëpartnerââ¬â¢. The economic and social changes during nineteenth century made the people work for a place in the society based on money. The over powering morality is another major theme of the play. The heroic action of Nora to save her husband by forgery was a crime in the eyes of the society. Mrs. Linde betrayed her real lover and married another man only for money. All the characters of the play appear to be misleading and unreliable during their walks of life. This instability was true temperament of the period. Ibsen succeeded in gradually bringing out the real personality of the major characters of the play. When separating men and women according to gender, most people would do it based on physical appearance. Would you have ever thought that you can tell whether someone is man or woman according to psyche? Psychological gender differences have had a long history dating back for more than a century. The use psychological research on women began in 1879 which also marks the beginning of formal psychology. Any research done during these years was mostly used to the notion that the white male was supreme over everyone else. This belief is a gender stereotype and children develop their gender based beliefs on such things.
